Vegetable prices remains constant

May 18, 2017

As it has been for the longest time, the prices start from sh500, sh1,000

Commonly known as greens, these vegetables are purchased on a daily basis.

Their demand is high but does not affect the cost.

The local names are nakati, bugga and gyobyo.

As it has been for the longest time, the prices start from sh500, sh1,000 upto whichever price you want.

The only difference is the quantity you get from the same amount.

Susan Nabiryo a trader in Kalerwe market says, "For sh500 one can only get five sticks of any of those vegetables unlike in the past where we used to give ten sticks for the same amount of money".

She attributes the change to the low supply and bad roads that hinder transportation to the market.

However, Aisha Nabisere a vendor along Luwum street says to be able to avoid losses since these vegetables wither, they slightly increase on the quantity sold.
