In today's application scheduled to be heard by Justice Steven Musota , the NGO is also challenging the act of UCC in restricting Ugandans to only use National IDs to re-register

The High Court Civil division is today going to hear an application seeking to block the disconnection of un-registered Simcards by the Uganda Communications Commission.

This is after a non-government organisation advocating for human rights Trumpet LTD sued UCC challenging its 7 day Ultimatum which was extended to a month given to Ugandans to re-register their sim-cards using the National Identification Number or else risk being deactivated.

In today's application scheduled to be heard by Justice Steven Musota , the NGO is also challenging the act of UCC in restricting Ugandans to only use National IDs to re-register and leave out passports to be privileged by only foreigners.

It also alleges that Ugandans in the diaspora are being discriminated by the given days ultimatum and risk their sim-cards being deactivated since there are no registration centers set up in the diaspora.

It should be noted that UCC will tomorrow deactivate all unregistered sim-cards as the one month ultimatum ends today.
