Tororo diocese has embarked on creating more parishes with the purpose of strengthening the Catholic faith and mobilizing Christians to undertake development projects.

So far two parishes, Soni-Kayinja and St Kizito Catholic Church Paya have been created out of Nagongera deanery to extend the services of evangelicalism closer to the Christians owing to current challenges propagated by the devil acts.

Presiding over the inauguration of St Kizito Catholic Church on Saturday, the Archbishop Dr Emmanuel Obbo called upon the Christians to promote the spirit of love, unity, togetherness and desist from acts of domestic violence which he said has forced several families to break down.

The function coincided with the mass wedding ceremony in which 38 couples were entered into matrimonial sacrament.

‘'We must bring to an end the acts of domestic violence in order to build the church and cause development within us. Am totally convinced that God is going to give us strength, unity and love for us to move to great opportunities'' Obbo said.

St Kizito parish has a population of 22,000 Christians and more are joining in the sub centers of Paya, Pambaya, Paragang, Sere, Liwira, Mwenge, Nyasirenge, Nawire, Sop sop, Atapara, per-per and Mius. There is also established convent by the Benedictine Nuns of perpetual adoration of our lady Queen of Angels monetary in Paragang village.

Obbo appointed Father Michael Oluka the assistant parish priest of Achilet parish to head the new parish while promising to another priest if only the Christians can sustain them.

Father Dominic Mubi the arch deacon of Nagongera Deanery said their work has been made simpler while appealing to Christians to join hands in ensuring that the parish grows to greater heights.

The state minister for health in charge general duties Sarah Achieng Opendi thanked the Christians for the unity and love extended to the church that helped in the construction of the parish priest's residence.

Opendi said they should demonstrate the same spirit and ensure they contribute to the construction of the bigger church to accommodate the increasing number of the Christians.

She challenged the Christians to desist from harmful propaganda that may derail them from their targets but should focus on church development.

The West Budama North MP Okoth Othieno donated a desk top computer and printer to the church to ease the work of the priest in data entry.
