Kampala Club elects new office bearers

Waniala who served on the staff welfare committee on the outgoing executive replaces Solomon Rubondo

Nimrod Waniala will serve as Kampala Club chairman for the next one year after being elected during the club's annual general meeting at the club recently.

Waniala who served on the staff welfare committee on the outgoing executive replaces Solomon Rubondo who served for two years.

He will be deputised by David Nyende who was elected vice chairman. Albert Mugumya who is the new honorary secretary will be deputized by Mathias Nalyanya while Stevens Mwanje will serve as treasurer, whose deputy is David Byamazima.

Carol Aguti-Mugisha is the Public Relations Officer while Henry Lugemwa, John Musajjakawa, Alfred Washaba and Godfrey Okello-Omoding were elected as Executive Committee Members in the elections which were presided over by His Lordship Justice Billy Kainamura.

Kampala Club that has various sports facilities including Lawn Tennis, Squash, Badminton, Swimming and a fully fledged gym, is a private members sports and social club that was founded around 1900 initially for the colonialists and later for the African Elite.

Past Chairmen have included distinguished personalities like Sir Adrian Sibo, Major Augustine Karugaba, Ernest Kakwano, Prof Fredrick Sempebwa, Prof Elly Katunguka, Dr Ben Mbonye, Hon Yona Kanyomozi, Solomon Rubondo and Gordon Sentiba among others.

The club organises an annual Chairman's Cup sports gala incorporating different sports disciplines.
