The Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura has vowed that security agencies will hunt down the killers of the force’s spokesperson, Andrew Felix Kaweesi.

Assistant Inspector General of Police Kaweesi was killed a few meters from his home in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb, by unknown assailants on his way to work.

Addressing the press near the scene of crime on Friday afternoon, Kayihura said security agencies will continue to hunt down the killers who have tragically ended Kaweesi’s life.

“They have been warning they will hit us where it hurts most. The murder of Kaweesi has indeed hurt us. But these are remnants of organized thuggery. In fact, many of them have been put behind bars since they started killing Muslim leaders and they confessed,” he added.

The assailants, who also shot dead Kaweesi’s bodyguard Kenneth Erau and the driver Godfrey Wamewo, are said to have been riding two motorcycles.

Kayihura explained that the organized criminal gang that has eliminated key Muslim leaders has been defeated by security agencies.

He however rejected claims that Police and its sister agencies are not doing a good job.

“You will always find such incidents in many parts of the world. But we have rounded up many and put them behind bars,” Kayihura added.

Kayihura also urged the public to desist from speculation and wait for investigations into the matter to be concluded.
