Secondary school students scoop flight scholarships

“My dream has come true. All in my life I have been dreaming to be a pilot and today I am among the 12 selected to study a Diploma Flight Operations at the East African School of Aviation in Kenya,”

A 15-year- old Charity Kimuli, a S.3 student of Mt. St. Mary's Namagunga has won an aviation scholarship.

Kimuli will study at Madiba School of Flight in South Africa.

Kimuli was announced the overall winner after beating 381 students from 51 schools who participated in Season One Aviation Scholarship challenges that included Ordinary and Advanced level students.

She managed to get full scholarship flight training including Private Pilot License (PPL), Commercial Pilots License (CPL), Multi-engine rating (MER) and Instrument rating.

Other students who received the award include: Ashiraff Ddumba a S.4 student of St.Lawrance Crown City who will pursue a diploma in Flight Operations at the East African School of Aviation in Kenya.

Valencia Catherine Nanyoga, 17, a S.5 student of Trinity College Nabbingo will pursue a diploma in Air Cargo Management in Montreal Canada.

The Director Aerospace Program Capt. Constant Mulase said scholarship program is aimed at boosting the younger engineers and pilots to have passion and concentrate, work hard and achieve their dreams.

''Air flight training is very expensive. Such program gives chance to young poor families to achieve their dreams, '' Mulase explained.

Winners will join their respective colleges upon finishing senior six.
