Outgoing Uganda Hockey Association (UHA) chairman Dunstan Nsubuga (pictured) says he regrets failing to tackle the development of the sport at school level.

Nsubuga noted this in an interview on what he believes his two-year term of office failed to achieve and appealed to the incoming executive to focus on taking the sport to schools.

"We have achieved a lot, but one area we failed to develop and I regret it is taking the sport at schools level, which is the core to development and I appeal to the incoming executive to give priority to that area.

"We have also not had a very good relationship with the National Council of Sports (NCS) and those are the challenges I hope the new executive will try to handle," Nsubuga, who is the current Uganda Olympic Committee assistant secretary, said.

He also appealed to the incoming executive to avoid being populists but work for the development of the sport.

Nsubuga mentioned formation of a constitution, maintenance of the pitch and running of a league as some of his achievements.

The election of a new executive is due next Saturday at the Uganda Olympic Committee offices.

Joachim Namala (Wananchi club), Lydia Sanyu (Weatherhead) and Susan Khainza (Kampala club) are vying for the post of chairperson.

Michael Nasimolo and Phillip Wafula are unopposed for the posts of Vice president and secretary respectively.
