President Yoweri Museveni has weighed in on the America first policy coined by US President Donald Trump, saying America shouldn't neglect the opportunities in other continents, especially Africa.

"I have heard H.E. Trump talk about "America first." It is okay but he shouldn't close America off the unique opportunities Africa presents," Museveni said.

Museveni made the remarks during a meeting with a group of American Senators at State House, Entebbe. The team of Senators was led by Senator James Inhofe.

The President said he discussed with Senators "an array of issues".

"The US Government has been our close partner on regional security, education, trade and refugees. We hope to continue our bond on these matters," he said.
