Bonney Katatumba, a prominent city businessman and Honorary Consul of Pakistan in Uganda has passed away.
Katatumba succumbed to complications arising from Asthma and Pneumonia and had undergone an operation at International Hospital Kampala (IHK). Family sources said he was being treated for colon cancer.

Katatumba was a well-known figure in business circles in Uganda and abroad. He was the head of Katatumba Group of Companies, a chain of businesses in education and hospitality.
Born on April 3, 1946 in Mbarara district, he grew up in a family of five brothers and four sisters. He went to school at Nyamitanga Catholic Parish Primary School, Ibanda Junior School and Ntare School.

He joined Old Kampala Secondary School before joining Makerere University in 1969, where he later graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Economics in 1971.

Although a Christian, Katatumba was married to two wives, Gertrude and Grace.
