Feb 13, 2017

The three-day event will bring together farmers, farming technology experts and suppliers.

Over 100 exhibitors toured Namboole Stadium on Friday to get familiar with the venue and position themselves ahead of the expo that takes place on Friday. The expo is organized by Vision Group through its flagship product of Harvest Money.

The show under them: ‘Climate Smart farming' has attracted experts from the agriculture sector, latest technologies, products and services to help farmers learn how they can be used to increase productivity on their farms.

The group was comprised of seed companies, irrigation suppliers, food processors; farmers among others were at the venue to get a briefing on how they should go about the show and how to position themselves.

According to Susan Nsibirwa, Vision Group head of marketing, agriculture is the backbone of the country and the initiative taken by Vision Group through the expo will raise its importance and call on more people to join and make it better.

It is estimated that agriculture contributes about 37% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and its products contribute nearly all of Uganda's foreign exchange earnings, with coffee contributing the largest percentage of 19% of the country's exports.

"We know that agriculture is the backbone of the country but we are not giving it the attention it deserves so working with partners, we want to make agriculture a talking point through this expo," said Nsibirwa.

 Exhibitors registering

She also advised exhibitors to simplify the messages about their products, to make it easy for Vision Group to print out some material that will be made available at the show and also make it easy for show goers to locate what they are looking out for.

A special place has been set aside for exhibitors who will want to demonstrate how the machines like irrigation, tractors and others work.

Exhibitors are advised to register early enough for better space allocation and avoid last minute preparations.

Exhibitors have been asked to report with their receipts, and get their tags according to the packages they signed for, their entitlement and the number of people who will be at the show.
