Four days after fire gutted a section of the health ministry building; its cause remains a mystery.

In a statement released this morning by the ministry's Permanent Secretary Diana Atwine said the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) had launched an investigation into the matter.

Atwine stated further that CID was working with electrical engineers from Umeme power distributor and forensic experts from the government analytical laboratory to ascertain its cause.

"We would like to inform the public that the origin and cause of the fire is under investigation by a fully competent multi-sectoral team of experts and a comprehensive report shall be availed to the public and all stakeholders as we get it," Atwine stated.

"The public is hereby notified that the services at the health ministry are continuing normally without interruption," she added

However, the affected section remains sealed off, pending investigations, Atwine disclosed.

It includes the offices of quality assurance commissioner; child health and reproductive health assistant commissioners; as well as the senior health educator's department.

Earlier, the Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima said the fire was believed to have started from the kitchen.
