Boxing Day futsal goes to Busega

Sona Home of Sports, Seeta Galacticos, Sema, Brotherhood, Viga, Oldies and Bagimu futsal clubs are fresh names lined up for the second edition of the Boxing Day futsal competition on Monday.

The teams are new clubs meant to revamp promotion of the newest competitive soccer (futsal) game in Uganda.

Futsal is the latest soccer discipline FUFA has incorporated into its assembly.

The game is yet to pick up and chairman of the futsal association Hamza Jjunju believes having a number of competitions before staging fully-fledged competitions will help promote the sport.

The all-day long Boxing Day event will be staged at the proposed site of the Champions Futsal Arena, Busega.

The Futsal Association of Uganda is set to use the tournament to test the recently trained referees to prepare for the Elite League next February.

Futsal is a five-a-side indoor version of soccer that has actively existed in Uganda for about three years now.
