Mubiru and Tumusiime come top at Nkata memorial in Entebbe

Dec 19, 2016

Tumusiime was also the overall mug series winner

A fireworks display, dances and musical performances crowned yet another season ender at the Castle Lite Mug of Mugs at Entebbe Golf Club on Saturday.

The Entebbe Club ‘choir' was also in their singing moods adding to an already ignited atmosphere with their melodies alongside the Gagamel Band led by Bebe Cool.

That was at the 19th hole, but on the course, it was Charles Mubiru and Pamela Tumusiime who emerged top as the 10th edition of the Danny Nkata Memorial Golf tournament crowned yet another successful golfing season at the oldest course in the country.

Tumusiime was also the overall mug series winner over ten months with 106nett while Alex Nkuyahaga won the men's series with 108 nett.

The tournament that attracted 107 players is held in memory of Danny Nkata, the first black man to play golf in the country and was also the first chairman of Entebbe Club.

He is also remembered for re-designing the Entebbe course from a nine-hole to an 18-hole facility, the reason one of the holes at the club is named after him.

The family was represented by family members led by his daughter Suzan Mubiru Nkata.
