Seals League meets end on a high

Selina Katumba emerges as the surprise overall winner of the girls' 13 and 14 years category.

KAMPALA - Silverfin's Selina Katumba was the surprise overall winner of the girls' 13 and 14 years category as the Seals League meets ended at Kampala Parents School.

Despite missing the first two league meets, Katumba collected more points than Nabatanzi in the last two rounds, to beat her to the overall position by two points.

Katumba won more events collecting 42 points to Ssinzi's 30, in the last round to emerge top. Dolphins' Hannat Nakimuli who also missed the first and last meets finished third overall on 70 points.

Anthea Mudanye, 16, was the undisputed winner in the 15&over category with 110 points where Silverfin's Avice Meya, who also missed the first two meets, finished second on 45 points. Altona's Rachael Galinda came third on 34 points.

Mercedes Mwebeiha (103pts) of the Silverfins collected more points over the four rounds in the 11 and 12 year's category, beating Shark Teens' Plaxida Nakabanda to the top prize by 13 points as Daya Mpeera of the Seals finished third on 74 points.

The 9 and 10 year';s category Hannah Kyanda of the Silverfin and Seals Club's Neema Kangi tied in first place on 56 points each, while Seals' White Heather and Ssanyu Kagugube were second and third respectively.

In the 8&under category that attracted 40 swimmers, Dolphins' Karimah Katemba emerged top on 44 points, three ahead of Gouws Lara of Silverfin and Shark Teens' Rahmah Nakasule who tied in second on 37 points with Seals' Amelia Mudanye, third on 17 points.

Silverfin's Arnold Kisulo was short of emulating her sister Katumba by 5 points, in the 15& over boy's category that was won by Seals' Nuwa Senkebe; 110-105 points.

Altona's Amos Bakka whose best performance was in the second meet in April finished third overall.

Adnan Kabuye, Ben Kaganda and Nicholas Malan were the top performers in the 13 and 14 years category while brothers' Christian and Christopher Musenze were the best actors alongside Tendo Kaumi in the 11 and 12 years category.

Carlton Musenze, Ahmed Kirimanyi and Jordan Ssamula collected 59, 44 and 30 points over the four meets in the tournament that attracted over 300 swimmers over the course of the year.
