Kadaga gives Kagasa sh5.4m for Miss World travel

Leah Kagasa was crowned Miss Uganda 2016/17 in October

Leah Kagasa the reigning Miss Uganda has received $1,500 (about sh5.427m) return ticket to the USA from Parliament Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, to represent Uganda at the Miss World competition due  to take place in December.

Kadaga handed over the money to Kagasa at Parliament boardroom on Thursday, while biding her farewell.

"You are the mirror of Uganda, and our ambassador, you should reflect the true image of Ugandans and I wish you well in all your endeavours while in the USA" added Kadaga while handing over the national flag.

According to Kagasa, 130 countries are to participate in the beauty contest due to take place in Washington DC, from 26th November to 18th December.

Kagasa was crowned Miss Uganda 2016/17 in October replacing Zahara Nakiyaga.

The grand finale that took place at Kampala Serena Hotel saw Kagasa beat 20 other contestants to the crown.
