Olinga wants more Ugandan women at continental events

Uganda's Joy Olinga will be the first female Ugandan to officiate at continental level as commissioner during the FIBA Africa Champions Cup women basketball finals in Mozambique starting on November 25 to December 4.

"Yes we are not represented by any club, but I think as a Uganda representative I have to do my work well and also lobby for technical support that Uganda 's women referees and officials would love to get," Olinga stated before departure.

"Basically I want us (Uganda) to have more women officiating in such international events in different capacities and that is how we shall develop women sport in Uganda."

Her performance at the Zone V championship in Dar Es Salaam earned her a ticket to the continental finals.

Twelve clubs including, Club Deportivo of Angola, Ferroviario Maputo, First Bank Club, Interclub, Kenya Ports Authority, United States International University Kenya (USIU) have already confirmed their participation.
