Onyango names Asuman, Wokorach on 7s team

Onyango says that at the moment, he is focused on player conditioning and fitness.

Rugby Cranes 7s team coach Tolbert Onyango has beefed up his team as he prepares for the World Rugby series Dubai 7s tournament in United Arab Emirates on December 2-3.

Onyango has called five players including Asuman Mugerwa, Jasper Ochen, John Odura, Michael Wokorach and Byron Oketayot to join the team that won the Africa Cup in Nairobi in September.

"I called them to beef up the team because of their experience and we are working hard to make sure that we live up to standards when we reach Dubai," Onyango confirmed the development.

Wokorach is a former 7s team captain, Jasper Ochen is a fly half currently playing for Kenya Harlequins after transferring from Kabras, While Oketayot and Mugerwa are national team players that missed the Africa 7s tournament in Nairobi.

Onyango explained that at the moment, he is focused on player conditioning and fitness.

"It is unfortunate that we shall miss out on the Namibia 7s because of lack of funds but we are working on players' body conditioning and fitness. Where we are going is tough so we have to prepare for the hard hits," Onyango explained.

The other players training include; Philip Wokorach, Solomon Okia, Eric Kasita, James Odong, Adrian Kasito, Robert Anguzu, Alhaji Manano, Kevin Keremundu, Pius Ogena, Lawrence Ssebuliba and Dennis Etau.
