Should I make an effort with my partner's friends?

This is stupid to me, my boyfriend has asked me to go and meet his friends at a party tonight and I am probably the most unsociable and shy girl, should I stay home or go? I just feel like they won't like me or I'll need to act different or what if I just sit in a corner myself quietly? HELP!!
