Moroto to tarmac municipality roads

The low cost resealing construction of 1.9km at over sh738m is expected to last about four months

Moroto Municipal authorities have unveiled plans to tarmac the town roads left to them after Chinese Road Construction Company, extending tarmac to its borders. 

The new development for the tarmacking of Independence Avenue stretching to Singila was revealed by the Town Clerk Moroto Municipal Council, Alex Felix Majeme on Tuesday. 

He said the procurement process has been completed and the contract awarded to EMPA Associates Limited from Kaberamaido which is to commence works anytime. 

The low cost resealing construction of 1.9km at over sh738m is expected to last about four months after commencement. 

"We shall use Uganda Road Fund, PRDP funds and the local revenue especially property rates for tarmacking this road and more UNRA roads left by Chinese.

We want to tarmac an average of two kilometres per year so that by the end of five years, we would have completed tarmacking 10kms of UNRA roads not tarmacked in the municipality by Chinese" said Majeme. 

He also revealed new plans to tarmac the Jie and Lopeduru Market roads slated for the next financial year.
