Premier League: JMC Hippos 0 Saints 1

Oct 26, 2016

JMC Hippos remain winless in this campaign.

Rogers Aloro scored the winner as The Saints FC picked up three points on the road against JMC Hippos FC in the Azam Premier League on Tuesday.

His 50th-minute free-kick from 25 yards was enough to earn Moses Basena's side a hard-fought away victory at Kakindu Stadium.

But the result was yet another dent in JMC's indifferent winless campaign as they remain bottom of the pile.

The home side, willed on by a partisan crowd inspired by a previous 1-1 draw at Onduparaka, created several chances through Charles Ssemanda, Walter Lubangkene and Ajaab Abdulrahman.

However, with all the opportunities they engineering, JMC could not find the target against a disciplined visiting defence with Robert Agandu at the heart.

And they were punished for their profligacy as The Saints broke the deadlock shortly after restart.

It was Coach Basena's second league win in Jinja after beating BUL FC previously.

"We have been playing so badly recently but today I am happy that my players got that much deserved win that will give us enough confidence to move up into a safe zone," he said after the game.

It was a far different mood as his opposite George Lutalo was left frustrated over his side's missed opportunities.

"We wasted so many scoring chances at their goal but they only got one through a set piece and they utilized it well. I hope my players will improve in the next match as we try to search for our first league win."
