10-hour water cut-off for Kampala users

Residents are having no water from 8am to 6pm Tuesday.

People in Kampala and surrounding areas are undergoing a 10-hour water cut-off due to upgrades by water body NWSC.

Residents are having no water from 8am to 6pm Tuesday.

Due to the recent pumping capacity upgrade at the Ggaba station from 19,000,000 to 23,000,000 litres per day, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation decided to upgrade power consumption to enable reliable and efficient power supply to the plant.

Kampala water manager, Andrew Sekayizi, said there would be interruptions in the water supply to undertake major upgrade works to enable Umeme team upgrade to meet the required amount of power as per the pumping capacity.

"All Ggaba water plants will be off but the reservoirs will have water and therefore I appeal to the general public to use the little water that will be there sparingly," he urged.

Sekayizi said that before the recent upgrade, people living along Entebbe road never had reliable water supply but now face no major shortages.
