The state prosecutor tendered in court an additional statement recorded by Mamerito.

Nakawa Chief Magistrate's Court has dismissed the attempted murder case of former Kira Division Mayor, Mamerito Mugerwa against five Kasokoso leaders.

This was after state prosecutor, Doreen Elima tendered in court an additional statement recorded by Mamerito indicating that he has forgiven them.

They include David Mugalya (LCI chairman for Kasokoso zone), David Ssekiziyivu (a councilor for Kireka village (C), Hajj Musa Sewagudde, Umar Mayanja and Jude Kabogoza.

Prosecution alleged that the accused and others still at large on November 5, 2013 at Kasokoso village in Kira Town Council, Wakiso District, attempted to kill Mamerito when they beat him and set ablaze his double cabin pick-up truck.

He had gone to attend a meeting on the invitation of the current police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi to devise means of solving the Kasokoso land wrangles.

However, before taking his seat, the accused allegedly attacked him on suspicion of pushing for their eviction from the land by National Housing and Construction Company that had expressed its intention to clear the boundaries of the land in question.
