"It was so strong that we left the house running," according to Simon Emwamu from Soroti district.

Mathias Nuwagaba from Mitooma district said that it was very terrible.

According to Rose Kahangire, who was travelling to Luwero, she did not experience the earthquake in the city suburbs of Kayanya in Kawempe.

Eh this Earthquake, for the moment i thought the building was collapsing on top of me. The speed at which i got out of it could have made Stephen Kiprotich jealous.

Earthquake!!! Mothers will always be mothers. I only picked my kids and left mwami to sort himself out.

It caught me at Nawankonge village in Iganga district. I came to see the grannies. Didn't know what was happening until saucepans started shaking. Was in the bedroom, but when I got to the door, it was survival for the fittest. Everyone was trying to pass through the small door at the same time. I thought grandma's house was falling.

I was inside the Maria's Galleria building in town. Everyone was headed for the exit only to remember they had not locked up their shops. Imagine if it was God coming for us how would he find you?

I ran around the house looking for a place where there was no glass like window because I thought glasses were about to break. The kids were scared though baby was asleep. Mwami though was resting without fear.

Maama Aaron

I made the sign of the cross and found myself saying the Holy Spirit prayer. My Aaron was comfortably sleeping as the dad watched TV. Hmmm it was strong!

It was raining in Kamwenge district when the tremor occurred. My option was to go under a nearby Banana plantation until it stopped.
