Uganda likely to face the worst food shortage - Disaster minister

The State minister for disaster preparedness Musa Ecweru has warned  of famine that is likely to hit the country because of the long dry spell predicted to run from September this year to March next year.

"This forecast by the National Meteorological Authority over the period September 2016 to March 2017 will result into the worst food shortage in the country if the happens God forbid with Karamoja being the most affected," said Ecweru.

Ecweru made the remarks Tuesday in Parliament while informing the house about the food security situation in the country.

He said that the country needs to begin addressing the predicted issues of food shortage during that period.
