Sub County speaker held over alleged defilement

The senior three girl is also believed to have aborted a pregnancy resulting from the defilement

Police in Kabarole district is holding the Kisomoro Sub County speaker on charges of defilement.

Musa Tibakirana, the Kabarole District Police Commander (DPC) identified the suspect as Geoffrey Mugabo who is accused of defiling a 16 year old girl.

Tibakirana noted that the girl is a senior three student at Kibito Secondary School in Kabarole district.

"We have arrested him, and he is in our custody," Tibakirana said.

Mugabo is said to have also impregnated the girl but she later aborted the pregnancy.

"We are also investigating the issue of abortion. The girl was pregnant but they aborted, which is illegal," Tibakirana added.

Mugabo was arrested on Friday by Police in Kibito and later transferred to Fort Portal Police station for further investigations.

Gerald Akugizibwe, the Kisomoro Sub County LC3 chairman could not confirm if his speaker had been detained.

"I'm not aware of the arrest, the police never informed me about it. I will find out," Akugizibwe said.

Meanwhile Police in Fort Portal is stuck with an identified body that was found lying on the road side in Lyampunda cell, in Buhesi Sub County.

Stephen Atiang the OC CID Fort Portal Police noted that the body of a man who is believed to have been murdered and thrown by the road side has now been taken to Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital.

He appealed to all people who have a clue on the dead person's identity to inform police or relatives.
