Investigate Bugoma forest ownership - CSO

May 26, 2016

The land in question has a total of 8,000 hectares in Hoima District and is gazzated by the government under the National Forest Authority.

The Anti-Corruption Coalition had petitioned the Inspector General of Government to investigate the contestation of ownership of Bugoma Forest between the government of Uganda and a Bunyoro Kingdom official.

The land in question has a total of 8,000 hectares in Hoima District and is gazzated by the government under the National Forest Authority.

The Executive Director Anti-Corruption Coalition Uganda, Cissy Kagaba says that the IGG must investigate the forged letter allegedly signed by President Yoweri Museveni on March 6, 2011 authorizing Bunyoro Kitala Kingdom to use the forest.

Kagaba also adds that the National Forestry Authority must place a caveat on the use of government gazetted forest to stop encroachers from depleting it.
