Besigye to stay in Moroto detention until next week

The Deputy Police Spokesperson, Polly Namaye, said they were working with the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) to prosecute him.

Opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye will spend the weekend in police cells until next week when he will be arraigned in court. 

Besigye a four-time presidential candidate is currently detained at Moroto Central Police Station in Karamoja.

The Deputy Police Spokesperson, Polly Namaye, said they were working with the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) to prosecute him.

Besigye was on Wednesday arrested in Kampala as he drove through Kampala Streets.

Deployment has been beefed up at Moroto Police Station with counter terrorism, army, military intelligence personnel and anti-riot police among others.
