Express and Villa have played to a goal-less draw in the Azam Premier League at Wankulukuku.

The win left the Red Eagles with a slim title chance. A win would have kept the Red Eagles in serious contention.

But as the Azam Premier League trophy race stands now, Express is praying that favourites KCCA and Vipers lose all their remaining matches.

That one of coach Wasswa Bossa's two remaining matches is against top side KCCA, further complicates the Wankulukuku side's dreams.

But Bossa is not about to have sleepless nights because of failure to win a trophy.

"Given the circumstances, I must say Express has performed very well," the Express coach said after yesterday's draw.

"For a team with financial constraints like Express to be in the top three is commendable."

Villa's stand in captain Henry Katongole was a bitter man after the match. "We blew so many chances. This is surely a match we could have won."

Villa, who at 24 matches have played the least number of games, remained in 10th position. It was the second straight game that the Jogoos were going without a win.

"Something has to seriously be done about our striking line. We have to finish in the top four," stated Katongole.

There was stone throwing at the end of the match. It took heavy army deployment to quell the violence.

Many fans remained outside the stadium. They complained that the sh10,000 and 20,000 set by the hosts were too high. Most matches have a sh5000 entry fee.

Former Buganda Minister Nakiwala Kiyingi, an ardent Express fan, was amongst the fans cheering on the hosts.
