Rainy season a blessing but not for all

Though this area has a lot of rubbish dumped by the residents they also claim that city authorities barely ever clear the drainage channels there.

On a visit to Kanyanya, a city suburb under Kawempe Division, you may wonder how the ordinary Ugandan survives in this area.

A walkthrough on what happens on a rainy day for the residents shows how much different the hustle and bustle here is from places like Kololo, Kisaasi, Ntinda and many others.

Though this area has a lot of rubbish dumped by the residents they also claim that city authorities barely ever clear the drainage channels there.

The question remains as to whether the residents are sensitized about the consequences of irresponsible garbage disposal or whether there are plans to avail proper rubbish bins and disposal units for them to use.

The rubbish now clogs the already narrow drainage channels when it rains and the area floods.

The photos here tell the story of a rather forgotten part of the city outskirts when it comes to drainage and sanitation.
