Court adjourns Sheik Lubega murder case

Magistrate Menya ordered the late Lubega's family to always bring with them Nankinga's children to not only visit her when brought to court but also in Kigo prison

Wakiso court Grade One magistrate Martins Menya on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of the case in which Hajara Nankinga is accused of plotting the murder of her husband Sheik Yunus Lubega.

This was after the state attorney Hope Muton told court prosecution is still inquiring about the case and therefore requested court to set another date for another hearing.

In a court room that was filled with both sheik Lubega and Nankinga's families, the magistrate pushed the case to May 25 2016 to allow prosecution collect evidence.

In tears, Nankinga requested the magistrate to force her late husband's relatives to bring her children to visit her whenever she is in court adding that she was worried about how they were living.

Nakinga further told court that she left all her six children on a veranda when she was arrested. She further explained that her children are 16, 13, 10, 8, 6, and 1year old respectively.

Magistrate Menya ordered the late Lubega's family to always bring with them Nankinga's children to not only visit her when brought to court but also in Kigo prison.

In response Abdul Muwonge a brother to the late sheik Lubega told court that at Buloba police station the family agreed to take all the children to boarding schools and added that that is where they at the moment.

Muwonge added that they will make preparations for children to visit their mother as it is both their right to stay in contact with each other.

Sheik Yunus Lubega was the deputy Imam of Nateete Muslim Primary School and was killed on April 5 2016 at his new house in Ssumbwe village, Waksio district, on Mityana Road.
