The embattled doctor said he is innocent and is ready to return to Uganda

Wanted Ugandan doctor based in Australia Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi has said he will return to the country before the end of May to engage in politics regardless of allegations of aiding terrorism and killing of Muslim clerics.

Last week the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mike Chibita discontinued all charges against him including murder and crimes against humanity, until he is arrested by police.

In a press statement, the embattled doctor said he is innocent and is ready to return to Uganda to participate in politics that involves changing the Government.

His personal assistant Frank Bulira said they are working on arrangements to receive Kiyingi upon return.

"We shall soon communicate to the entire country on his travel details. He is finalising his security details and he will come back under his own protectionBulira said.

"They know who Dr. Kiyingi is and they have always said they'll arrest him when he arrives at Entebbe Airport but they shouldn't dare. His security is international standard and they shouldn't attempt to arrest him" he added.

Meanwhile, Police spokesperson Fred Enanga confirmed that Kiyingi is still wanted by Police and the arrest warrant issued against him shall be executed as soon as he returns.

"They aren't international warrants of arrest because the directorate of CID didn't request for the attention of Interpol to issue a red notice. The DPP only withdrew the cases on grounds that the accused person had not been arraigned in court" Enanga said.
