The former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), former flag bearer Col. Dr Kiiza Besigye claims to have developed chest, eye and throat problems as a result of the Police tear gas sprays in Kabale.

Addressing media at his home in Kasangati, Besigye said police used a wheel spanner and pumped spray in his vehicle which affected the occupants in the car.

"We inhaled a lot. I hope if there is no poison in their spray we shall all be okay," he added.

Besigye was intercepted as he travelled to his home in Rukungiri from Kabale Magitrates Court on Tuesday where he had gone to answer charges of inciting violence with four others.

They allegedly committed the offence in 2012 during a rally they held at Kabale Grounds.

Others are; Erias Lukwago, Mubarak Munyangwa the Mayor Kawempe division), Ingrid Turinawe and Roland Kaginda the Rukungiri Municipality MP.

Besigye decried what he called continued harassment by the Police, stressing that they still trail him and block his movements.

He stressed that he was going to present his issues to Uganda Human Right Commission (UHRC) and other human rights institutions to show the international community that "all institutions are in captivity and nonfunctioning".

He said they are going to continue engaging until they exhaust all local remedies to register their failure, to easily pursue international justice.

"The international community can only come in if we do something. We are also going to boldly rally all people to fight for their justice," Besigye added.

He said it is the actions of the citizens which can end the injustice in Uganda because institutions are in captivity.
