'We are all migrants', Pope says on Lesbos

Greek public television ERT said the pope was to bring back to the Vatican three families from Kara Tepe refugee camp on Lesbos, who were chosen in a draw.

"We are all migrants," Pope Francis said on Saturday on a visit to the Greek island of Lesbos to give hope to thousands facing deportation after risking their lives to reach Europe.

"May we... recognise that together, as one human family, we are all migrants," the pope said in a prayer in memory to the hundreds of people of all ages who died in the Aegean.

Greek public television ERT said the pope was to bring back to the Vatican three families from Kara Tepe refugee camp on Lesbos, who were chosen in a draw.

The pontiff's visit came amid continuing criticism of a deal reached last month to end Europe's refugee crisis by sending all irregular migrants who land in Greece back to Turkey.
