The Uganda national ladies golf had a fairly good opening as the All Africa Challenge Trophy tournament teed off at the Citrus Golf Course, Hammet in Tunisia on Monday.
Gloria Mbaguta, making her debut was Team-Uganda's best scorer returning 80 gross in the first round, in the tournament that has attracted 48 golfers from 16 countries.
Captain Eva Magala's 86 gross also contributed to the overall team's score of 169 for Uganda; for the team to finish 7th after the 18-hole opening round.
Irene Nakalembe another member for team-Uganda found the going too tough returning 90 gross that did not count.
South Africa led by Kaleigh Telfer who shot an opening 71 gross to lead the individual scores, are in the lead on 145 gross followed by Morocco who are 11 strokes behind on 154.
Hosts Tunisia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya are third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
In the individual scores South Africa's Antoinella Ivanna Samu (74) is second while Morocco's Lina Belmati 76 and Ines Laklalech are third and fourth respectively with Ivory Coast's Vivianne Kouame in fifth on 78.
Each country is represented by three golfers with the best two scorers on each team contributing to the team total in each of the three rounds.
