Kutesa assures diplomats on constitutional reforms

The Foreign Affairs minister, Sam Kutesa, has assured foreign diplomats that Ugandan government will take all the necessary reforms to improve the country's democratic process

In a meeting at the foreign affairs ministry today at 11:00am with the envoys representing various countries in Uganda, Kutesa said, "the government has listened to and pays attention to the concerns some of your governments and members of the international community have raised. We have also duly taken note of the various observations and recommendations by Election Observer groups. We shall constructively work with you all to appropriately address those that move Uganda forward."

Referring to Uganda as a country that subscribes to democratic principles and values, Kutesa assured the diplomats that Uganda government will remain firmly focused on promoting people's rights and freedoms as well upholding the rule of law.

Commending them for their continued support to Uganda's democratic process, Kutesa said, "During the 10th parliament, government will take on board constructive recommendations by all the observer groups and the supreme court in its consideration of electoral reforms."
