Mwidu has taken a lead to innovate on how cassava can give much higher returns to the farmer

Before you pay a visit to Naome Mwidu Maganda 43, of Kawami village, Kadama sub county, Kibuuku district, it would be difficult to appreciate that with value addition, fresh cassava can be converted into flour within only three hours and earn the farmer more money.

The cassava that most people shun because it is not a known money maker, actually gives the farmer more money when value is added to it.

Compared to other food crops like bananas and sweet potato, cassava gives the farmer only sh1.2m per acre after a year of care compared to sh800,000 a farmer would earn monthly from an acre of bananas.

However, one woman, Mwidu has taken a lead to innovate on how cassava can give much higher returns to the farmer.
