Lubangakene said it is a shame for parents from the region to think that good schools can only be found in the central region

Parents in Gulu have been asked to stop taking their children to schools that they consider better in Kampala but rather work hard and strengthen the standard of schools in the district

The call was made by Pastor William Lubangakene of Christ Lifeline Entebbe while speaking during a thanksgiving prayer ceremony for the good performance by El-Shaddai Nursery and Primary School in last year's PLE exams.

45 pupils out of 65 got first grades and 19 got second grade.

Lubangakene said it is a shame for parents from the region to think that good schools can only be found in the central region and yet with their support, the region can also have very good schools

He said schools in Northern Uganda should learn to mentor pupils and teachers should start offering more practical rather than theoretical subjects to their pupils.

The PTA chairperson Tony Walter Langalanga, advised the pupils to desist from acts that lead to disciplinary action against them because some of them have a negative bearing on their studies.

He also commended parents of the school for the continuous support they are rendering to the school to enable their children perform well.

The best male pupil Oketayot Marvin Latigo who scored aggregate 5 joined Lugazi College while the best girl Acomo Ann Maureen who got 9 joined Trinity College Nabbingo for secondary school.

The director of the school Florence Labalpiny promised to ensure that the school maintains it good performance.
