The two day event ending Thursday has so far attracted over 20 participants from Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and host Uganda.

Ndejje University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eriabu Lugujjo has commended the Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) for successfully hosting the inaugural Africa Woodball workshop that started Wednesday at Nabinoonya Resort Beach, Entebbe.

The two day event ending Thursday has so far attracted over 20 participants from Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and host Uganda.

"I didn't expect this event to have such a turn up and with this, I commend UWbF for the efforts," Lugujjo said.

He appealed to the participants not to seat on the skills attained at the workshop but rather open up active bodies in their respective countries in a bid to make the sport popular on the continent.

"We need to have at least a competitive tournament on the continent and not just focus on events organised beyond the continent that sometimes our athletes may not be able to travel to due to limited funds," he stated.

Meanwhile UWbF president Paul Mark Kayongo also encouraged the participants adding that, "You will realize that woodball as a sport has very many opportunities ranging from competitive sport, leisure, personal growth and development".
