The examination results will be subjected to the board's quality assurance processes this February after which they will be released in mid-March

Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) has finished marking the 2015 November/ December series of examinations for all business and technical institutes across the country.

A total of 57,000 candidates pursuing certificate and diploma programs in different academic disciplines sat for the examinations at 381 examinations centers.

In a press release, received by New Vision, Onesmus Oyesigye the Acting Executive Secretary UBTEB said the body deployed 597 examiners for the one month process.

According to Oyesigye, the examination results will be subjected to the board's quality assurance processes this February after which they will be released in mid-March.

"After approval of the results by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Sports officials, the results will be released by the Minister in mid-March," he said.

In addition to the examinations, students at business and technical institutes were assessed continuously, during the academic semester. This included real life projects, industrial training, and course work.

Practical examinations were also marked on spot, during the examination period. For instance, a total of 600 examiners were hired last November to assess the students on the sites.

Programs with practical examinations include craft and community polytechnic courses, journalism and computer studies courses.

Oyesigye said the practical papers were marked since some of them involved real life projects such as construction of houses which would not be transported to the board's offices.
