Uganda salutes USA Independence

Uganda has congratulated President Barrack Obama and the people of United States of America upon the country’s 238th Independence Anniversary.

Speaking at the event marking this year’s Independence Day at the US Ambassador’s residence in Kololo, the Vice President Edward Ssekandi wished President Obama and the people of America good health and prosperity.

Ambassador Scott Delsi welcomed around 200 guests to his residence at Kololo in Kampala, to celebrate his country’s 238th independence from Britain which America observes on 4th of July every year.

He said that this year’s cerebrations have seen a reduced attendance and activities due the security concerns over threats by terror cells in the region.

The high profile event was attended by several members of Uganda cabinet, envoys of different missions accredited to Uganda, American citizens in Uganda, heads of government agencies, as well as private sector and civil society representatives.

July 4, 17762, was the date the Second Continental Congress voted in Philadelphia to declare independence from Britain, but July 4, is the day set apart for celebrations marking America’s freedom.
