Colonel John Ogole a former officer of Uganda National Liberation Army (UNLA) who spearheaded the war against the National Resistance Movement in Luwero between 1983/84 has died.

According to close family sources, Ogole succumbed to prostate cancer at the Middlesex Hospital on Wednesday morning in London where he was admitted.

Ogole fled to exile shortly after the overthrow of the Milton Obote government by the military in 1985.

He recently teamed up with renegade Gen. David Tinyefuza to form a political party, Free Uganda, which had set out to mobilize and unify the various forces, political organisations and individuals opposed to the Gen. Yoweri Museveni.
