After the Uganda rugby union annual general assembly meant to take place on Sunday flopped due to lack of a quorum, members have requested the Secretary URU to call another AGM within 30days and in a neutral place.

The disappointed members accused the Kyadondo group of frustrating them when they hired the venue they had allocated to them to Corporate League because they knew that the assembly was going to grill the Kyadondo dominated URU executive on the failures and increasing wrangles in the sport.

On Sunday the rugby club members that constitute URU assembly arrived at Kyadondo where the annual general assembly was to be held only to find Corporate League activities taking place.

Later a small black board was placed there indicating that URU AGM was taking place at the Secretariat which infact doesn’t have space to host an AGM.

“This is just sabotage because they knew that we were going to meet in the place and they again hired it to the Corporate League and didn’t communicate,” a furious Warriors delegate, Brian Sseruyange, stated.

Some of the delegates accused URU chairman Andrew Owor of sabotaging the assembly after realizing that some members were prepared to move a vote of no confidence against him.

“They had given us the venue way back and then they booked it to the Corporate League and didn’t make any communication, is that not sabotage,” Sseruyange stated.

Pirates’ secretary Mike Ndiema urged the secretary Mike Wandera to reschedule the Assembly to May 27, 2014 and avoid the repeat of play game scenario that happened on Sunday.

URU Excom troubles:

URU wrangles with clubs started last year when the newly elected executive came up with a total over haul of the union structures that included trimming the super 8 league to the Super six and creating another division championship.

The clubs opposed the new format but URU instead went further and used Uganda Cup results to decide who to be relegated from the Nile Special Rugby Super League yet the previous year the League was played.

The Clubs opposed the format and the plan was abandoned but Xfm Impis were victims of that scandalous decision that saw them relegated on Uganda Cup results.

This year clubs that included Impis, Rhinos, Warriors, Pirates and Entebbe Mongers put up a spirited fight to stop URU from implementing the new format and threatened to vote out the Executive during the AGM if they insist on the Super 6 League.
