JINJA - A debt has forced a Primary Three pupil to escape from school in Jinja district for fear of being confronted by fellow pupils who had lent him the money.

The boy fled from Omega Boarding Primary School in Buwenge Town Council in the eastern Uganda district.

Prince Bisoboka escaped from school on Tuesday and left the school management and parents pondering his whereabouts, then later notified Police about the boy's disappearance.

According to Samson Lubega, the Busoga region police spokesperson, Bisoboka kept on asking for money from his fellow pupils until it accumulated into a bigger debt and due to fear, he decided to escape from the school to return home.

The boy left school without notice to the management, Lubega said, and he boarded a taxi from Buwenge to Jinja town and later to Bugembe where his parents’ home is found.

The police spokesperson said the fearful boy travelled on mercy of taxi conductors since he did not have any money on him.

It is his [the boy's] parents who reported to Police that their child had returned home from school on Wednesday.
