Katatumba petitions court over Blacklines House

TROUBLED Kampala businessman Boney Mwebesa Katatumba has appealed to the Court of Appeal seeking to be re-instated into Blacklines House until the case he filed against Shumuk is finally decided. 

On February 24, 2014 Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo cancelled orders that had restored Katatumba into occupancy of the city centre business Blacklines House and; restored Shumuk Springs Developments Limited and Springs International Hotel Ltd, saying that they were unlawfully issued.

Through Kamba & Company Advocates, Katatumba filed the notice of appeal in court on March 11, 2014. 

He contends that come the hearing day of his appeal, he would ask the Court of Appeal to overturn the High Court’s ruling, saying that he was dissatisfied with his ruling. 

The judge ordered that Shumuk should stay in possession of the building until the lawsuit in which Katatumba seeks to regain it is finally decided by the courts of law. 

Meanwhile, Makada & Partners Advocates, the lawyers representing Shumuk Developments, have also asked the High Court to tax a total of sh512,135,000 as their bill of costs against Katatumba. 

The lawyers filed the bill for taxation on March 12, 2014 following Katatumba’s loss of the applications he in which he had sought to evict Shumuk.
