IT was an energy sapping clash but Namilyango College put in a gritty performance under hot weather at Kisubi to snatch an 18-7 win over hosts SMACK on Sunday in the Schools Rugby League.
New recruit Ivan Otai inspired Namilyango to victory by scoring two penalties and two tries before Collins Opio added a conversion to seal the win that was sweet revenge for the 15-0 humiliation at home in the first leg.
“We worked on our back line which was shaky in the first leg and also the boys were back from S.4 vacation with confidence that they are part of us after being admitted to A’level,” games teacher Valence Bizimaana stated.
In other games played, defending champions Hana Mixed whipped Kyambogo College 31-3 at Kyadondo Rugby Club with team captain Paul Masinde scoring two tries, while Kevin Keremundu, Steven Alul and Fred Odur added a try each.
SMACK leads Group B with 14 points while Namilyango occupy second place with 12 points. Kololo leads Group A with Hana second.
Action continues on Sunday for the final games of the group stages.
