Late James Mulwana to be honoured

The business community is organizing a one day symposium later this month to remember the life of James Mulwana- one of the country’s foremost industrialists and businessman.

Mulwana passed on in 2013 leaving behind an unmatched legacy of having built household brands like Nice House of Plastics and Uganda Baati from nothing through hardwork and perseverance.

He also inspired thousands some of whom will on the afternoon of February 26, 2014 narrate how he touched their lives in different ways.

The open symposium is organized by the Private Sector Foundation Uganda and will take place in the Lugogo main exhibition hall from 2 pm.

“Come, hear, learn and get motivated on how he transformed Uganda’s Industrial Sector and contributed to the economic growth of our nation ,” reads a notice from PSFU.

Several speakers have been lined up for the halfday symposium. Among them is the central bank governor Emmanuel Mutebile, Amos Nzeyi, chairman of Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA).

There will also be personal testimonies from founder members of business organisations that were founded by people inspired by Mulwana among them Uganda Women’s Enterpreises Association and Uganda Funeral Services.

Mulwana served on several company boards as chairman including Nile Breweries-a SABMiller subsidiary, BAT-Uganda, East African Development Bank, AIRTEL-Uganda and Standard Chartered Bank and UMEME.

The symposium is open to members of the public.
