Team Uganda will train in Bukwo in preparation for the World University Cross-country Championships.

“We want to make the best of high altitude training. That’s one way of ensuring that as hosts we are among the best,” said NUSFU head Peninah Kabenge.

“Some members of our team are already in Bukwo while others are still with their universities but should soon be joining their colleagues.”

As the students head to the mountains, also east bound, will be other long distance runners for the National Half Marathon.

Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) will use the National Half Marathon Championships to select a national team to represent the country at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships slated for March 29, 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The day will be spiced up by a 10km road race sponsored by Run – Fast, a UK based global sports management company.

Run - Fast manages former steeplechase World Champion Dorcus Inzikuru and 10,000m National Record holder Juliet Chekwel among many others.
