Truck rams into restaurant

Property worth millions of shillings was Friday morning destroyed at Bweyogerere when a Fuso truck, heavily loaded with Matooke rammed into a restaurant and concrete mixing business.

KAMPALA - Property worth millions of shillings was Friday destroyed in Bweyogerere when a Fuso truck, heavily loaded with Matooke rammed into a restaurant and concrete mixing business.

Police said no lives were lost. 

According to eye witnesses, the truck registration number UAQ 871K lost control when it tried to dodge another truck that was also heavily loaded with Irish Potatoes.

Godfrey Mwesigye the Officer in Charge of traffic Kira division said negligence caused the accident.

 “While one truck was making a u turn at a wrong place, the other was over speeding,” Mwesigye said.

 Both trucks were heading to Bweyogerere Market to offload their food stuffs.

Patrick Kayongo, owner of Zone restaurant said he could have lost over sh10m in the business whereas Abas Sendagala, who owned concrete mixers that were also destroyed by the truck, said he had lost over sh20m
