Fifty babies were delivered on New Year's Day in different hospitals across the city.

 
Mulago national referral hospital registered 27 babies including two pairs of twins. Fourteen of them were girls while thirteen were boys. Seven babies were delivered through caesarean section.
 
At Nsambya hospital 10 babies were born. Six of them were girls and four boys, while China - Uganda Friendship Hospital - Naguru, 13 babies were born.
 
One of the mothers Salima Namutosi 26, who delivered a second pair of twins, praised God for enabling her have a normal delivery.
 
Namutosi a mother of six and a peasant farmer in Zirobwe – Luwero district said she was excited to delivery on New Year’s Day.
 
The area manager of Mulago hospital labour suit Josephine Apinyo encouraged mothers to use family planning in order to space their children.
 
 “Couples should agree on the number of children they want to have, such that they can have a proper planning for their families instead of producing every year,” She says
