BUGANDA Road Court - 14 suspects linked to the brutal murder of six family members in Kiruhura district have been remanded further to Luzira prison.

The suspects appeared before grade one magistrate Julius Borore at Buganda Road Court who adjourned the case because the presiding chief magistrate Olive Kazaarwe who was handling the matter was absent.

They appeared to answer charges of murder and aggravated robbery, having been charged with six counts of murder.

The magistrate adjourned the case to January 14 when the suspects will re-appear in court for further mention.

They applied for bail last month through their lawyers after prosecution stated that investigations into the matter were complete.

Daniel Karuhanga and five others, all of the same family, were killed at his home in Kacumbiro village on August 17.

The assailants raided his home in Kacumbiro cell and hacked him and the others in a grisly manner.

They were tracked and by a police sniffer dog which led police to Jovia Karuhanga’s home, one of the prime suspects.

It is also alleged that after the murder, the group stole the victim’s car and sh12m.

Sam Rugomoko, a neighbor to the deceased said Karuhanga had been embroiled in domestic wrangles over property sharing for years with his estranged wife since they broke up in 2011.

Prosecution alleges that items such as spears, knives and pangas which are believed to have been used in the murder were recovered from the suspects.
